Bloomsbury Flowers | Life Returns to Covent Garden
Bloomsbury Flowers was opened in 1994 by former Royal Ballet dancers, Stephen Wicks and Mark Welford, and quickly became synonymous with beautiful flowers, arranged beautifully.

Life Returns to Covent Garden

Life Returns to Covent Garden

After a difficult start to the year for so many of us, life has finally started to return to Covent Garden and we have been thrilled to finally welcome so many of you back into the shop.  Covent Garden and the West End in general has suffered a lot during the pandemic and we have seen many shops, restaurants and businesses close in this usually vibrant and cosmopolitan part of London.  Now, though, life really has taken an upswing and it’s a joy to see our local area start to come back to some sort of normality.
Even though we had remained open throughout the various lockdowns, we hit the ground running as the theatres reopened and we were back in action creating many bouquets for opening nights and of course many of our bouquets headed to the Royal Opera House for the Royal Ballet dancers who were finally back on stage after so long.
We have had lots of weddings too many of which had been postponed due to the numerous changes in the rules relating to how many people could attend and then making sure social distancing was adhered to. It brings to mind Dec 12th 2020 when we had 6 weddings on that day, something we would not normally be able to do but as at the time guests were limited to 15, we were able to make them all work!
We’ve not been twiddling our fingers during the quieter times and one project we were able to work on was a short video with the help of the inspirational Jeff Carrigan; Jeff used to be part of technical production back in the day when we were on stage with the Royal Ballet companies and he now has his own content production company,, and he very kindly offered to put a video together for us over a few days here in the shop and in and around Covent Garden. Click here to enjoy!
Needless to say, we had a real blast working with Jeff again and of course he couldn’t resist putting some bloopers together too so keep an eye out for them on our social media platforms!
It’s important for us to keep our designs fresh and innovative so we’re always on the lookout for new containers to work with and we found these very stylish and versatile ones quite recently:

They will work well on long, narrow tables and also on a mantel piece or along the front of a top table at a wedding.  They are roughly 70cms long and as you can see have 9 vases in various sizes and when filled with flowers the overall height is nearly 20cms.  Take a look at the sample arrangements that the team put together in different colourways:

After over a year, our floral workshops will be returning to Firmdale Hotels Charlotte Street Hotel so do keep an eye on their website to see when the dates are announced

Here’s to an enjoyable summer!
