Bloomsbury Flowers | Delightful Dahlias
Bloomsbury Flowers was opened in 1994 by former Royal Ballet dancers, Stephen Wicks and Mark Welford, and quickly became synonymous with beautiful flowers, arranged beautifully.

Delightful Dahlias

Delightful Dahlias

We do love a dahlia…  Their timing is perfect as they come into season just after peonies leave us for another year.  We buy the English grown ones by the bucketful and they come in all the colours of the rainbow looking much like the old-fashioned dolly mixtures you could buy by the bag from your local sweet shop.

Dahlias are great to use either in mixed bouquets or on their own, colour-blocked in simple containers.  If you’re going for the vintage look then dahlias are the must have flower for your event or wedding.  They come in a variety of sizes and styles too; pom-pom heads, the more ragged, blousy bloom and then teeny tiny ones suitable for that simple glass bottle you wondered what to do with…

As you know, we buy home-grown flowers and foliage wherever possible and dahlias are the perfect example of seasonal flowers grown by local growers and we’re so pleased to be able to support them.  Dahlias were much maligned years ago however with the increased interest in locally grown products and the vintage look in design becoming so popular, they are now the flower to have when they are in season.

We will be stocking them throughout their season which, good old British weather permitting, should be until mid-September.  Why not pop into our shop and indulge yourself?  You know you want to…
